Hi there!  My name is Daniele Kaplan.

I split my time between NY and NJ, so I have a soft spot for the George Washington Bridge, which I view as a metaphor for life. I received my Masters in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute in 2001, and over the years I have worked with children exposed to domestic violence, survivors of domestic violence, medically ill children, children and adults with medically ill family members, mentally ill adults, children of mentally ill family members, children in Head Start programs, elementary/middle/high school students, adults struggling with becoming self-sufficient, and adult survivors of crime. I also teach an Introduction to Art Therapy undergraduate course, facilitate art therapy workshops, and provide clinical supervision to Art Therapists.

I am a licensed and board certified Creative Arts Therapist and Art Therapy Supervisor, certified Child Life Specialist and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, and am trained as an EMDR therapist and a Life is Good Playmaker whose mission is to help children heal from early trauma.

I specialize in trauma, loss, grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and family and social relationships.
